Your profile

Your profile lives at tangled.org/<your-handle>. It shows who you are, what you work on, and how you’re connected to other people on Tangled.

Your profile is a public record in your own account, so it goes wherever your account goes. Anyone can read it, independent of any web app.

Select Edit on your profile to change your bio, pronouns, location and up to five links. Change your avatar under Settings → Profile. Without one, Tangled uses your Bluesky avatar.

Your handle, like alice.tngl.sh, is a name. Behind it is a DID, a permanent identifier like did:plc:7iza6de2dwap2sbkpav7c6c6. Your repositories, stars, follows and comments all point at the DID, not the handle.

That’s what makes a handle easy to change: you change it with your account provider, and everything you’ve done on Tangled follows. Links to your old handle stop working, but a link with your DID in place of the handle always reaches you.

Your DID is shown under Settings → Profile.

The top of your profile shows your avatar, handle, pronouns, bio, location and links, and how many people follow you and you follow. Select either number to see the list.

Below that are tabs:

  • Overview: your pinned repositories and an activity chart of the last six months of commits, pull requests, issues and new repositories.
  • Repositories: every repository you own.
  • Starred: repositories you’ve starred.
  • Strings: code snippets you’ve shared.
  • Vouches: accounts you’ve vouched for or denounced. See Vouch network.

On someone else’s profile, Follow and Vouch take the place of Edit.

An organization has its own profile layout, with Overview and Repositories tabs.
