Organizations

An organization on Tangled is a real atproto account with its own DID and handle. Members are accounts that have been granted control of it.

  1. Verify an email address under Settings → Emails. Creation is refused without one.
  2. Open the New Organization and choose a name
  3. Tangled creates the account <name>.tngl.sh with you as its controller and marks it as an organization.

You may be asked to sign in again so Tangled can request permission to create the account. Each user can create a upto two organizations. Just like regular user accounts, you can change the handle of your organization from <name>.tngl.sh to be a domain that you own.

The creator is the owner and can manage the account. Invited people are members: open the organization’s profile, go to Settings → Members, and add accounts. Members can act as the organization but can’t manage the account. Owners can remove members from the same tab.

Organizations are passwordless, delegate accounts. Owners and members can act as the organization in certain parts of the interface, such as when creating a new repository or when forking a repository. The account picker in the new-repository form lets you choose which account you create the repository under:

Choose a unique, descriptive name. Use letters, numbers, periods, underscores, and hyphens.

Settings → Organizations lists the organizations you control. Select Leave to give up your access. You lose access to the organization’s repositories and settings immediately, and an owner has to invite you back.
