Documentation/HOWTO
··· 187 187 If you do not know where you want to start, but you want to look for 188 188 some task to start doing to join into the kernel development community, 189 189 go to the Linux Kernel Janitor's project: 190 - http://kernelnewbies.org/KernelJanitors 190 + http://kernelnewbies.org/KernelJanitors 191 191 It is a great place to start. It describes a list of relatively simple 192 192 problems that need to be cleaned up and fixed within the Linux kernel 193 193 source tree. Working with the developers in charge of this project, you ··· 250 250 release a new -rc kernel every week. 251 251 - Process continues until the kernel is considered "ready", the 252 252 process should last around 6 weeks. 253 - - Known regressions in each release are periodically posted to the 254 - linux-kernel mailing list. The goal is to reduce the length of 255 - that list to zero before declaring the kernel to be "ready," but, in 256 - the real world, a small number of regressions often remain at 257 - release time. 258 253 259 254 It is worth mentioning what Andrew Morton wrote on the linux-kernel 260 255 mailing list about kernel releases:
