66+---
77+88+Hi, I'm Boris Mann!
99+1010+<!-- copy/paste from home page -->
1111+I'm interested in [[Open Source Licensing]], community, co-operative models. Pooling capital and collaboration. I'm the founder of [[Fission]]. In Canada I help run the [[CoSocial]] Community Co-op. In Vancouver, I'm one of the organizers of [[DWebYVR]]. I like to cook & eat and have a [[FoodWiki]].
1212+1313+Some things I've been thinking about recently:
1414+1515+* [[pooling capital and collaboration]]
1616+* [[Open source is no longer a radical act]]
1717+1818+There's a [[Colophon]] that covers how the website itself is built. [[BMC]] is a bit of a todo around website things.

···6677## To Do
8899-- [ ] Journal feed modifications
1010- - I should consider linking back to the actual journal entry. ~~Hmm, or maybe appending a hashtag like `BMCJournal` for context~~
1111- - do tags-as-hashtags and append them
1212- - do something special if link exists and append it
1313- - Context for this should be “how is this useful to a Mastodon reader?” - tags help in discovery, link to main article is most useful for reading
1414- - ~~Figure out how to make sure that full path image links are included~~

2020+- [ ] Journal feed: do something special if link exists and append it[^feedaffordances]
2121+- [x] Journal feed: Figure out how to make sure that full path image links are included
1522- [x] Update front page to have recent journal entries.
1623- [x] Display “via” frontmatter [[via]]
1724- [x] Turn off linking out to notes
1825- [x] Tags? Something like “if tag same as Note, then link” or “on Note, list all pages with same tag”. Even with a “blank” [[Wiki]] page, you get all the notes tagged with wiki displaying.
1926- [ ] Test run of re-importing LogSeq
2027- [ ] Make a [[Colophon]] feed by looking at Journal entries tagged with `colophon`
2121-- [ ] Add a style for `<li>` that have Obsidian `task-list-marker` class
2222-- [ ] Change date formatting for journal pages to include / highlight time posted rather than just day
2828+- [x] Add a style for `<li>` that have Obsidian `task-list-marker` class
2929+- [x] Change date formatting for journal pages to include / highlight time posted rather than just day
2330- [ ] Reconsider slugs for journal. Maybe: `YYYY/MMDD/HHmm`.
2431- [ ] Main journal page will grow forever. Have to figure out daily or monthly pages. Pagination?
2525-- [ ] Add blog posts to home page
2626-- [ ] Reverse chron sort for journal pages? Or at least home page journal listing?3232+- [x] Add blog posts to home page

44+---
55+In the early 2000s when I first engaged with open source and joined the [[Drupal]] project, open source, the GPL and other licenses were radical acts. Microsoft was the big enemy and it was a small group of people knowledgeable about [[Open Source Licensing]] against mostly proprietary software. It was a radical act.
66+77+In 2024, open source is no longer a radical act.
88+99+The [[DWeb]] movement has some of the same seeds of radical acts that open source once add. But also, perhaps [[pooling capital and collaboration]] is radical in the face of corporate owned platforms and capture.
1010+1111+Perhaps another view is that if open source is no longer a radical act, we should get down to the boring but civilization supporting work of treating it like plumbing. Set up funding and maintenance relationships. Make sure maintainers and contributors are compensated.
