# RTK - Rust Token Killer (Codex CLI)

**Usage**: Token-optimized CLI proxy for shell commands.

## Rule

Always run shell commands through `rtk`, but remember that `rtk` is a project binary provided by devenv.

If `DEVENV_ROOT` is defined, the devenv environment is active and `rtk` is available directly:

```bash
rtk git status
```

If `DEVENV_ROOT` is not defined, wrap commands with `devenv shell` so `rtk` is available:

```bash
devenv shell rtk git status
```

The same devenv rule applies to other repo-provided binaries such as `tang`, `dagger`, `docker-buildx`, and `docker-compose`.

## Meta Commands

```bash
rtk gain            # Token savings analytics
rtk gain --history  # Recent command savings history
rtk proxy <cmd>     # Run raw command without filtering
```

## Verification

```bash
# Active devenv
rtk --version
rtk gain
which rtk

# Outside devenv
devenv shell rtk --version
devenv shell rtk gain
devenv shell which rtk
