Would be nice if some Markdown syntax was supported. For example, wrapping a word in _underscores_ turned it into italics automatically, typing - on a new paragraph would start a bullet list, and so on.

Sorry, this is already supported. It's just that _underscores_ don't turn italics on.

Can't delete my own issue, so just closing it instead.

(you can delete the record from your PDS using something like pdsls.dev if you really want to 😉)
